Reach for t’Sky

Season 1, Episode 2: Begin With the End in Mind

I remember clearly the feeling I had when I first read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The profound wisdom of Stephen Covey resonated deeply with me, providing clarity on how to do the right things, in the right way, with the right people. That initial read was more than just an introduction to a set of principles - it was the beginning of a mindset shift that continues to influence me to this day.

I’ve read that book many times since, and I actively strive to embody those habits, letting them guide my daily decisions and interactions.

One of my favourite habits is number 2: Begin With the End in Mind. This principle emphasises the importance of having a clear vision of your desired outcome before starting any task. When you know where you’re going, it’s easier to get there.

When it came to my own book, the first thing I wrote was the synopsis - the book’s description that I would later use on Amazon. This process set the tone for me and provided a clear direction to follow, ensuring that every chapter and concept aligned with that initial vision. I suddenly knew exactly where I needed to get to.

All objectives and projects benefit from this type of clarity. It allows everyone involved to understand what needs to be achieved. Don’t just talk about your goals; write them down, make them visible, and ensure that they are the constant reference point for every decision you and your team make. Challenge yourself and your team to keep driving towards that North Star, no matter the obstacles along the way.
