Reach for t’Sky
Season 1, Episode 18: The Ripple Effect
I still remember the first time someone asked me for advice. It was a colleague struggling with a new project, and they came to me for guidance. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could help. I didn’t think I had the answers or the experience to be a mentor. But as we sat down to talk, I realised that just listening to their concerns and sharing my perspective could make a real difference.
We worked through their challenges together, breaking the problem into smaller steps and exploring solutions. Watching their confidence grow and seeing them succeed was incredibly rewarding. That moment stuck with me - it wasn’t just about solving a problem; it was about empowering someone else to find their own path forward.
That experience ignited something in me. I began to recognise the value of mentoring and the profound impact it could have, not just on the mentee but on the mentor as well. Helping someone else succeed felt deeply fulfilling and gave me a new sense of purpose in my work. Over time, that realisation led me to explore coaching, a role where I could formalise this process and help even more people achieve their goals.
Mentoring isn’t just about sharing knowledge; it’s about building connections, offering support, and creating a ripple effect that can influence someone’s career and confidence for years to come.
